Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Hey,
Sometimes laughter is the best medicine, right?
Just thought I'd freely share a moment of my very own stupidity with y'all.

Last time I drove the Vette I backed it in to the geerage and pulled it close to the wall on the passenger side. This way I can open the driver's side door all the way to get out without too much gruntin' and groanin'.
I put up both windows almost all the way; left about an inch and a half open.

Just before dinner I thought I'd pull it out to give the carb. a look.
However, my driver's side door handle broke again.
Now I'm wondering how the heck am I gonna get in it!!!

First I tried a coat hanger. No good! (I guess those things are better for hanging coats and such.)
Then I went and got my tall, skinny teenage daughter and asked her if she could squeeze in the passenger side. She got her favorite blue jeans and sneakers all dirty squeezin' past the right front tire and the wall. She wasn't happy at all.
I just stood there scratchin' my head asking myself how in the world am I gonna get in the Vette? Just what am I gonna do about this?

It took a total of about 45 minutes for me to finally realize I could simply remove the driver's side T-Top thru the barely open window. Ouch

Thats an awsome story Kevin LOL  My first thought was breaking in thru the T-Top, it can't be too hard, thats why they put an alarm on it.  Then I remembered you said you cracked the window, that using your knoggin' Clap

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.
So after the carb it looks like a new door handle is on the list.  Gawd it never ends.

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

I thought about the T top. I was also wondering why you didn't open the rear hatch lid? Either way uh maybe taking the car to a mechanic might be a gud thang.....

Gee Tux... didn't know 79's had a rear hatch?... ;)

probably your best bet if there is enough window room is popping the T-top latch.  Might have to jack up the car and scoot it over enough to get through the passenger side... hopefully you got a floor jack...
