Mine got totaled the other day And I'm just getting up and around. Is the insurence co. going to try and snowball me. Is thers anyway I can get the car back? I've never had to do this before. I'm 59 years old an I've never been in wreak. I guess I'll look around and see what you are trining to sell.My car is a 82 CE.I was rushed to the hospital an never got a good look at it. It seams like front damage.Any ideas about how to handel the insurance co. would be a great help. I dislocated my right wrist broke my nose have staples in my scalp along with a black eye and a lot of cuts.My head got up close and personal with the windsheld,so I have a concustion. Please excuse my spelling as this is very hard to do right now.My Vette was an 8 on the 1-10.The t-tops didnt break and my doors open an close. The drugs have me pretty spaced out right now. I'll check back later.

Damn sorry to hear about the wreak. You might be able to keep your car and have it fixed, but I don't know that.
Sounds like it was a pretty hard lick. You need to get well first and worry about the car later.
If the insurance company does total it, I know they will let you buy it back for XXX$$$.
Let us know what they say.

You will definitely be allowed to bid on car if it is considered a total loss. Most insurance companies total the car when the damage exceeds 70-75 percent of the fair market value. I don't know who your insurance carrier is and what coverage that you have. I deal with this stuff daily so if you have any questions contact me with a private message. I am glad you are recovering and it was not more serious. Take care.

OMG!
How awful, I surely hope you recover FAST!!

A long time ago I had a bad wreck in my Toyota and had the the wrecker take it to my house. It was totaled, but since it was dropped off an my house, I didn't have to buy it back. Maybe if you call the place that has the car, they can tow it to your house (I don't know how much they would charge) and it doesn't hurt to ask.
I wish you the best of luck and maybe Scott holds the best information. Keep us posted on your "boo boo" improvement and updates on your "Baby."
Thank God your ALIVE!!

[/QUOTE] Thanks grey. I'm am quite stiff and seem to find that I have more ingeries. Like I said I didn't have a chance to see the car because they rushed me to the hosp.I guess I'll have to go to my personal DR. on monday. My wife saw the Vette and she said that they probably can't fix it. But you konw that a wreacked Vette looks real bad..I've got AAA plus. Can they tow it home. Man it's hard posting. I've got a real nice black eye that I can't see out of. I did have my seat belt on. I NEVER go anyware with out puting on my belt I told the cop that I have AAA when he asked what towing service do you want. He said I could't use it. I don't know why.
MAN, that's awful.
I bet you feel awful about getting your baby smacked (talking about your head) !!! I'm 65 zgator and I fully realize that us old dudes don't heal near as fast as we used to.The car is/was a neat toy and fully replaceable.....YOUR NOT !!
Count your blessings and please remember what is really important in life.
Now grab that insurance money and go have some fun looking at all those Vettes for sale.

Gator, I am glad your fine. The car well it can be repaired and replaced you my friend are by far more important!
If you can post some pics later we might be able to give you better advice.
Unless you take it to a vette specialist I doubt that it will ever return to that 8 status.
I would begin thinking about what I was going to replace it with. I would also start thinking about what a fair market price is for your vette.
Depending on who is declaired to be at fault you may come out okay in the end.
Again, glad your okay and hope you continue to heal up nicely!

If it is not a declared value insurance policy and you have receipts to show cost of upgrades to the vehicle, I believe you may be able to negotiate a higher market value for the vehicle? give it a try..

Michael, don't worry about the car right now...take care of yourself. Sorry to hear about the wreck, and I hope you get to feeling better soon. We're all here for support, anytime ya need us. I can PROMISE you that.
Perhaps someone can go and get a look at the car for ya, and take a few pics. You definitely do NOT need to settle anything with the ins. until you are back on your feet. A CE car is worth more than a "normal" '82 model, so I hope your's is not so bad they will total it...then again, it might be better for you if they do. Too many variables to know just yet.
Take it easy, and let your poor body heal. The car is replaceable...you ain't.
