Any good tips on how to tighten up a side mirror and keep it from wandering in the wind? I have one original 71, and one aftermarket I bought from Mid America Designs. Thanks Fellow Vettheads, Floyd

mine was loose also. i turned the mirror all the way one way and took a sharp scribe and made scraches in the ball as deep as i could, this makes tiny raised marks along each scratch, turn the mirror all the other way and repete. you might have to do this a few times until you get it as tight as you like. mine is just fine now

Mine was a little loose but not too bad. Rather than marr the ball, I coated it with a little "tacky glue" and worked it in to the socket -- it seemed to help. By the way -- I have no passenger side mirror & I assume this was "normal" in '71. Anyone know when passenger side mirrors became standard??

what i have done to serve as my right side mirror is i purchased a small square curved stick-on mirror from a auto supply store and placed it on my inner windshield header between the visors near the rearview mirror. i placed it so it looks right at the right rear quarter panel and covers my blind right side. it has come in handy quite a few times.

prior to 1976 right side mirrors were a dealer installed option. in 77 the body colored sport mirrors were offered as an option and installed on both sides. in 1980 they became standard
