Great info John,
That was my next question. I got out the tape measure and everything is sooo looow to the ground, I was not sure this bend pak would work
.

They claim 4 inches when lowered, but some things are just too darn close for comfort - can you drive over it when it is all the way down??? I measure 4.5 inches to the spare tire tub....

I guess you've had it a while and sounds like this is the best thing I could ever buy

I'm just tired of the jacks and stands for simple things - just use 2 x 12's to make the difference for the trans cross member.

I also have just started looking into the scissor jacks and my problem is getting this thing off the truck. All the sites I've been to say it's my responsiblity to get it off the truck, problem is they weight from 1000 to 1200 lbs. Northern Tool and Equipment claim for a fee they can arrange a truck with a lift-gate to get it off the truck, but then how do you move it to where you want it?
Here's the one I got - http://www.asedeals.com/mid_rise_lift.html. I paid an extra fee ($120.00) to have it unloaded). A little steep, but they guy took got it off tghe tgruck and plopped it right where I wanted in the garage. For a guy with no truck and no easy means to get help to lift really heavy stuff, it was a no brainer.
Putting the 2x12's on each side of the lift solves any clearence problems. The vette stays parked over top of it.
I have a fork lift so I'm no help, but I know thats what it took to move mine around....
I've also been shopping around and from what I've seen I'm sold on the Bend Pak MID-6XP for my situation, which is also the lack of room. I like that it is quality certified and the fact that it's made in the USA. I try to purchase everything that way. I like what I'm hearing from those of you that have had and used them for awhile. I'll be ordering one any day now. Also thanks for the info.

mine came on a tractor-trailer that had a lift gate on the back. i was going to get an engine hoist to lift it off the truck but because it was early i didn't get a chance to.
the driver had a pallet jack and got it to the end of the gate. we took off the motor/pump and i put my 4x8 utility trailer at the end of the gate and he lowered it slowly . when the end was on the trailer i hooked a come a long up and pulled it all the way on the trailer. then i just backed the trailer up my driveway.
i uncrated it and the front legs have wheels on them. then used the motor unit to hook into an hole that is cut in a steel plate welded to the back, tilted it up and rolled it in the garage.
had a friend plus the driver help unload it from the truck and i uncrated and put it in the garage myself.i also put 2 2x10's on each side just to make sure of the clearance.
i am very confident with mine as it was tested by the american standards (really don't know where it was made) and in my opinion is built sturdy and is very sturdy with the car on it.
wherever you get it from, which is personal choice and where you feel the most comfortable, it will be well worth it.

just to show that you do a lot under the car with these... i had to
replace the exhaust system on my 90 from front to back. lifted the car
and removed everything. believe me i wouldn't have been able to get the
y pipe unbolted if i used ramps. the nuts were a real pain coming off.
the only thing i had to do was lower the car and lift it with a floor jack to get the y pipe out and slide the new one in. raised the car back up and installed the pipe. believe it or not it was just as much a pain reconnecting it. everything else can be done with the car lifted.
with all the pushing and pulling on the socket wrench and a lot of force at times, the car never even wobbled and feel very safe under it.
hope this helps and i feel it was the best investment i have made besides the vettes.
