What is your opnion on the market as far as Corvettes are concerned? the reason I ask is that I am looking for a second one already . Just bought the first one last week and looking for one for wifey !

Who do you consider an accurate guide as to value ? Is it a buyers or sellers market in general , i know bargains are out there. Just dont want to get ripped off.

Wow! Thats a good one. I guess value depends on a lot of things. Year,numbers,options and conditon all factor in. The bottom line is what is it worth to you? The best advice I got was to spend as much as you could afford on the initial purchase. Project cars always cost more than you think to complete.

Yes, that does have a lot of variables.

I know you want this for the wife, but are you also lookng for an investment car as well, or simply a pleasure driver for her?

My own feeling for doing this is finding a car in as good overall shape as affordable, but not necessarily one of the more desireable years and model...say a mid-70s, base engine, a/c, etc. If it is already original, fine. If not, that's not a bad thing either. If it's not already original, then it becomes easier to justify your wife making any cosmetic changes that suit her, such as a new stereo, upholstery or anything else.

Ask your wife what she wants, or more important...doesn't want in a car for her to drive. Remember...if Momma ain't happy...ain't NOBODY happy!

One of the Corvette magazines just published (March April or May Issue) that has a Corvette price guide. Its not the most precise, but it does give a general feel for the market.

They're not kidding about the buy the best you can afford. I've already sunk more than double my purchase price into my 75 trying to make it right, and its still not close.

Knowledge is power, make sure that the car is inspected by a pro so you know exactly what you're getting into(may I reccommend Ken Styer? )

Buy what will make the wife happy!

OK, I looked at the Vette Price Guide above. I'm sure I will feel stupid about this question as soon as someone answers, but... What is the "4V" and "6V" in the description of the driveline of the cars?

Second, do you guys feel these prices are pretty accurate, or do you feel all are a little inflated? I just don'w see '81s selling for those #3 prices around here, EVER.

Finally, a question I can answer:
I think this refers to fuel delivery
4v is 4 barrel carb
6v is 3x2 barrel carbs
TPI is fuel injection
