Over the last 10-15 years the term #'s matching has chaned meaning. To the purist (used to be and got frustrated with it) means that ALL the numbers match. The trim tag, vin, etc. So, if the trim tag says the paint is rally red the car is rally red. The frame, engine, door tag, and trans all bear the vin. Basically the car is as it was when it rolled off the assembly line.
Now #'s match can mean anything. Usually it means the car has the original engine and something close to the original color.
When a car is advertised as #'s matching, find out what the author means by that.
