Well with a day off and no house chores to do I decided that today was going to be the day I started the vette for the first time. Things went great, I called my dad since I needed to find something to keep him busy. Told him I would be ready for his help in about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. That would give me some time to clean up and make sure that everything was ready before he got there. Well, 10 minutes later he walks into the shed carrying a fire extinguisher, timing light, distributor wrench, test light.I ask him if he brought any gas!LOL Well we crank it over for about 20 seconds, it pops once or twice and he says hold it. He looks up at me and says "are you sure the plug wires are on right". (I used to work for him in the garage so he knows I can do stupid stuff) I tell him not to worry and I crank again. It starts and I take it to 2500 RPMS, I rev it up and down and I was surprised at the quick response. Twenty minutes later after the 2500 - 3000 RPM break in we shut it off. I have a small trans fluid leak and a power steering leak. Dad smiles and says it sounds good. Puts his arm on me and tells me it sounds great and its gonna be a really nice car. So off he goes, but he left the fire extinguisher with me in case I need it while finishing up all the wiring I have to do yet. It was fun sharing that moment with him! Now its on to fix my 2 leaks. The trans leak was a line fitting I dint have tight enough. The steering leak is a new hose, that one Im not happy about. Guess I need to send it back and get another one.
I plan on putting the headers on either tomorrow night or Monday then break them in so they dont discolor, and hopefully a new exhaust system this week. I'll post a question in the exhaust category about pipe size.
Wow, I can tell you I am so glad that is behind me now. I put that off for almost 2 months just worring about what all could go wrong since everything is new, (trans/converter, carb, engine, electric fans, fuel piping). But today I decided its time! Maybe now I'll get my butt in gear and get it finished. Once the headers are on it I'm moving on the interior. (Ebo, you got that CD done yet!Wink)
Hey Rich, I'm one step closer to be able to cruise with the top down with you! That excites me!

Well enough of the story, Hope everyone else has a Merry Merry Christmas!
Rodney

That sounds great, Rod! And I just asked you a question about your Dad! I'm glad he's doing OK. NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE IT READY FOR THE SPRING CRUISING SEASON! Maybe we can set up a mini cruise since I'm not too far away from York! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
