Can someone tell me what the name of the plating that is used to give metal parts the gold/greenish color. It is used on many bolts and other early Vette parts such as the wiper door vac can and headlight actuators
Thanks

Gold cadmium...used on brake backing plates, brake master cyl. cover(some years), headlight actuator cans, etc.
Don't know of any gold cad. plated bolts/nuts used on Vettes...most were either natural, silver cad., or some shade of black/gray phosphate.

Charlie,
I believe that the standard "cadmium" plating is silverish color, and the golden plating is called cadmium dichromate.
Good luck,
Anthony
