Vette(s): 1971 350 270 hp roadster millivanilli red, black interior, white rag top, white hard top, I've had it 18 years and intend on giving it to my son for his 25th birthday(another 18 years from now)
Hi Gang
Just wondering if anybody with a early C3 had done their seats over and did it make them 100% better than they where, or should I look into finding some C 5 sport seats and get all the bells and whistles .......Thanks Bill

Well, I wouldn't get rid of the original seats because it's part of the car's history.  You could change out the seats, but you might have to drill holes or something if you need different seat mounts.Dead  I would not drill extra holes in my C3 just because I want to keep it as original as possible (I'm old school).  My seats were redone and they are not as comfortable as my C5's seats, but I do not find the original seats that uncomfortable either.  Just MHO.  Keep us filled in as to what you decide.Big smile

Don't know how the earlier seats feel, but the wife had the older style seats in her '78 (not real comfy) and we upgraded to the pace car seats. Big difference. She loves 'em.

I would also NOT even think of getting rid of the old seats.... I'd have to keep them in storage
if I replaced them.....  And IF I replaced them I would go for comfort no matter who made the seats so I would not be looking to use another Corvette seat from a newer generation Vette I'd buy any seat that felt good...

But as someone who now owns a C2 a few C3's and a C5 and used to own a C4  all I can say is my tail end does not fit in any of them....comfortably for any length of time...

My 79 is the worst My C4 sports seats were better then the sport seats I have in my C5 the C2's seats are the most comfortable but nly marginally so over then the 72 and 76 seats....

NOW....IF you have old cushions under the seat covers replacing the cushions with new ones will do wonders for the feel of the seats... Only problme I have with that is that when I replaced the cushions in both my 72 and 76 I sat a hair too high for the first summer and had to bend my head down to see under the top of the windshield frame... ended up storing a cinder block on the drivers seat of both cars that fist winter....By spring I could actually see under the frame....

Guess I am swimming against the tide here.   Wacko I replaced my seats with black leather out of a C5 and love them.  Not only enhance the looks, but they are much more comfy.  Didn't have to punch any new holes 'cause I made custom brackets.  Traded the old seats for the C5 seats.  Didn't make me no nevermind, 'cause not much else is original!!  Just my $ .02 worth!

I completely replaced mine, since the passenger seat wasn't original.  I got them through Corvette America, because I could order them in advance and then ship the old ones back.  It made a HUGE difference.  New leather, new foam, new everything.  While they aren't as comfortable as the ones in my C6, they're much better than they were.

My favorites are the C4 sport seats for look and comfort. Ease of installation is a 1. Change the seat tracks from the C3 seats to the C4 and bolt in.

But, the just keep eluding me on Ebay for the price I want to pay.....
