Here we go!

After years of enjoying my convertible LS5 in Florida (OK, I have been struggling with cooling issues in summer time!) I have to move to Montreal, Canada.
Well, I know I and my kids can cope with cold winters. I am not so sure about my two wives. I can talk to the legal one and have her buy into the change, but there is no point to talk to my Vette: She does not listen; she just needs care (Yes, my legal wife listens a little more than my Vette, just a little!)
OK !
What should I (expect to have to) do ?

This thread is obviously open but not limited to our French Canadian friends.

The first thing I can tell you is that you will really enjoy the 6 or 7 months you will be able to drive your Vette.  Maybe you and your family can cope with cold winters, but not your Vette.  You never see a Vette on the road in winter.  The ideal case is to have a garage in your home where you can store and pamper your Vette all winter long.  Every spring, you experience the joy of your first ride in your Vette.  I did that yesterday after long hours spent to paint the engine and install new carpet in my car during the winter months.  Also, you will have to go through a certification examination of your Vette where an accredited garage runs a complete check of your car and makes sure everything related to security is working properly, in particular the hand brake which should prevent the car from moving when it's on (that's sometimes a challenge in a 30 year old car...)  Have you ever been in Canada before ?

I would suggest dropping your car off with me for safe keeping. I'm right on the way to your new home!

Think heat, especially heat in your new garage. In-floor radiant heat is by far the best (but the most expensive to install). Try to find a Corvette club in your new location, what a great way to meet new friends!

Thanks Roger,

Yes, I have been in Canada before and in Montreal a lot!  I was a first timer in 1996, but since 1999 I have enjoyed Montreal's night life several times a year, As a matter of fact, I have stayed in Montreal like one week a month for the last 18 months.

What you wrote does not surprise me (except for the speed of your reply).  I hope we will meet sometime this summer since I am moving late June ?

Hi Big Fish !

I am sorry, I am not overwhelmingly (Is that a word?) attracted by your first suggestion. However I tend to agree with the rest of your reply: Hopefully I will be able to rebuild some friendly relationships in Montreal. (I am not very concerned about that; hopefully this is not I am arrogant).

Hey Christian,

I'm from Montreal myself (moved to FL in 98).  Are you moving IN Montreal or on the north/south shore ?  If you are moving on the island, you probably wont find any house with a garage (well, maybe on the west side near the airport...), but it is pricey to live on the island.

As you already know, Montreal is a great city with entertainment for everybody and lots of culture.  Good luck to you!

PS. If you make it there before the end of June, don't miss the Jazz festival and certainly not the Just for Laugh festival right after.

My wife is from Montreal. I went with her to visit her mother there a couple of years back. I promise you, you could not give me a home there. Maybe a visit. After all I'm a born and bread southern boy.
It was in the twenties last night and fifties todayShocked here, I telling you I almost froze my little buddies off. Gene

I moved. But I had to change my plans at the last minute (I had to convert the road moving to ocean freight at the last minute). I moved to France.
As a matter of fact, I share my time between Sarasota, FL and Strasbourg, France. Because I spend more time in France, I took the Vette with me. I can tell you that French people do like vettes too.
