Well my ins. adjuster found a mint condition front clip in NY. Well they sent the whole car. It runs ,runs good. It's not an 82. It's either a 80 or 81. What are they going to have to do with the hood.On the outside it's the same but the underside does not have the ram air thing that the cross fire engines have.Other than that the front is excellent!! The place in NY said to use what ever we need. I don't know if they want the car back or not. I'd like to get the rims. There are a lot of good parts on this car. It's more like a fixer upper than a parts car. It's got a black leather interior. The interior lights don't work and the car is in the back of the shop so I can't see a whole lot of the inside but I can tell it's all there.Anyway thats where I stand so far.The ins. co. knows the car is worth $25,000 so they will try to fix it.They have allready checked the frame and it's all in spec. Will see.

Stay on top of them Michael. Sounds like there trying to work with you and that is terrific! Don't settle for anything less than what you want.
Don't settle for anything but an 82 hood with the working door. If it worth that much don't put a diff. hood on it. If they are going to fix it, then they are responsible to fix it the right way.
Good luck,

I agree wid Dave...don't settle for a butchered hood...get the real deal. The side vents are a little different on the '80 cars, and maybe the '81s too...watch out for that.
Hope they do get it all back together to your satisfaction...it really does sound like they are at least trying.

I will make sure and tell them it HAS to have an 82 hood. The ins. adjuster is a car guy. I think I've told you all that this accident happened on thanksgiving day and he was in Daytona at the rod rum. He knows his cars.If there is a difference in the side vents I can't tell. I don't think there is. If you look in the catalogs they list the same vent for 80-82.There might be something internally that I don't know about. I do like the fenders because they don't have any emblems on them. Makes for a nice clean look. If I ever need to put the Cross fire emblems on I've got a pair of NOS still in the GM package.I'm going to call my adjuster Mon and let him know about the hood. It's GOT to have that.He getting the whole strips kit from Pohenix. And a brand new paint job.A new windshield. Lucky my T-Tops are fine. I don't care how long they take just as long as it's right and thats whay I to my bodyman. I'm in no hurry just take your time and do it right. My body man told me that a lot of his customers and there friends have been asking about the vettes because they have one that needs work. He said I'm bringing him more money!!!He's very happy.

Cool sounds like it's going good, I hope it works work for you!
I'm doing fine. All the marks and cuts are gone. I talked to the adjuster today and he said he will find me an 82 hood. Sometimes I kinda wish they would total it out and cut me a check for $25,000. I'd get me a nice 4 speed 78-80 and put some in the bank. Then I really don't want that to happen because I've grown close to my CE and I know it very well. They won't total it though because there ain't enough damage. Since I haven't had it around for awhile I've picked up my modeling for now. I've got so many kits. I've been doing some Morpar old school S/S and prostocks. Did the S&M Cuda and 67 GTX. I'm doing a 71 Cuda Motown Missile and a 69 Cuda Motown missile even though I don't think they ever had a 69.I've got the Calif Flash, Mopar Missile and the S&M all Dusters. I get like an assy line going. That Testors paint takes weeks to dry.I make sure that I make the rear wheel wells bigger but still stock looking. One more. I'm doing a tralier queen Challenger TA in Panther Pink. I do have a Vette. It's a resin 68 sedan delivery!!! Not sure about that one yet. It keeps me busy. All the decals for these and many more are all on ebay.

It's still not fixed. I've got a big piece of the right hand fender. It was the piece that has most of the front wheel well. The Cross fire emblem and the side vent. It's in the back of my truck. I went to my favorite shop. I pulled my truck into the building. Stu was working on some piece of crap.I pulled the fender out of the back. I had it in my hand and walked over to Stu and said. Stu can I leave my vette. It'needs an oil change!!! Other than that Im watching BJ on speed. I wish they would tone down the auction guy so you can here what they are saying. It's kinda of hard to listen to two people.
