Hi All,
Over the course of the past couple months, some of you have asked me to post info on how my engine swap was going. Being a procrastinator by trade, I am just now getting started on posting the info. I started a page here on C3VR. If you would like to follow along, here is it:
http://www.C3VR.com/member_pages/101_200/143/default.htm . I don't know why this does not show up as a link. Adam, what am I doing wrong?
Anyhow, I hope all of you find this both informative and to some small degree, amusing. Please remember that misery LOVES company so lets all get started doing engine swaps. |haha|

Engine Swap |eek| Everyone |devil| Would you mind if I dont participate in this joyous function? I spent the last 2 weekends working on a tranny in a Chev, suburban. Still missing a lot of skin and muscles still hurt. My 74 only has 56k on it and it is running very well thank you. It will be interesting to see how many members jump on the wagon with you to swap motors. PS HAVE FUN |hammer|

Hi
Just for my info.
Why did you go for a long stroke block and not for the short stroker 427 ?
Raw horses might be a touch higher, but doesn't the 427 compensate with
faster increasing RPM speed ?
My block was originally a 68 Camaro 396 CI high performance 4 bolt main block.
The previous owner didn't know this and had to get it overhauled.
He thought it was a original 427 Block and asked to get it 30 over and 454 CI.
That's how he sold the car to me.
Due to the internal / external balancing differences issue, I took the oil pan off and confirmed the guts to be 30 over, but only a 427 stroke.
Thanks to the shop overhauling it, they of course knew about the internally ballanced 396 and 427 versus the externally ballanced 454 and disregarded the previous owners wish. |smokin|
So, it all worked out well for me and also , it makes me feel safer reving it up, knowing it's the short stroke.
So, tell me, please.
Gunther |attn|

Hey Gunther,
The answer is very simple. I don't want to mess with my original engine and one of our club mechanics had a 454 sitting in his garage that has never been taken appart. He had it for a spare for his race car. The biggest reason....$850.00 for a complete engine ( minus intake and headers ) is in my opinion a good price. Also, he is helping me with the job |smile|

just a test to see if I understand what was ment by the url tags. Ok, that did not work. Do you mean to add |url| at the beginning and end of the address? I tried that and all it did was add |url| to both ends...did not create a link. HELP .. |cussing|

first of all, they have to be UPPER CASE.
second, the closing URL tag has to have a / in front of URL

Clicking the "URL" button above the area where you enter a message should put the tags in for you, then you just have to your address in between the open and close tags.

What you type in should look like this, just replace the ? with |
?URL?http://www.myurl.com?/URL?

Got it?

Look under my pic on this post. I have the correct markings ( I think ). I am trying to get it to come up as part of my signature. I did it the way I had to do it to get my pic to show up. |confusing| |headscratch| |cussing|

You still have to make url UPPER CASE as URL and the closing tag has to be /URL

Does the URL button not work for you?
