Hey guys,

Some of you know that I had the chance to purchase a legit 1977 GM Warranty Card for the Vette. I did so for $75. The guy has over 3,000 positive feedback on eBay, dealing nothing but with original Corvette items. The card arrived, its legit... however the VIN number that was supposebly 'never filled out' was, he jsut ripped the tape off. So now he exposed the acutual cardboard. Below is the e-mail transcripts, what does everyone think? Some parts in HIS e-mails have to be altered because they contain offensive language. He turn out to be a very vulgar, and arrogant man.

hi rookie-----all warranty books have sn typed on a piece of blank white tape when issued to car.then the tape is mounted in book. your judge will approve this for show. i can send a blank 2 u if your are plannibg on counterfeiting this item-i must also notify the F.B.I. please advise and u mighr as well throw in an apoligy! bone up & thanx! rick

That was very rude. And yes, I know about the printed tape. But the fact is you stated in the auction taht nothing was ever printed on the card. In fact it was and someone ripped it off exposing the card. And I already had an NCRS judge at a local Corvette group identify the card in person(ok, I lied about that... but its common sense you can tell he tampered with the card). He said that it would not pass show inspection.

You oh, so amuse me. Calling people names, being arrogant and making idle
threats is not very good. I mean after all in your auction it states (the
following is a direct excerpt for the purchased auction):
"THE SERIAL NUMBER PART OF THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT-I SAY IS NOT FILLED OUT-IT
IS WAITING FOR YOU TO PUT YOUR SERIAL NUMBER IN THERE." You were, and are
condoning what you are now stating to be 'counterfeit'. Plus Rick, you and I
both know the FBI has better things to do than bother with petty non-sense.
However it is only illegal, and considered 'counterfeit' if I was selling it
with the car as original for monetary value. Show display, and personal use
does not count. I'll tell you what Rick, keep the $75, I'll give you the
benefit of the doubt.

I would suggest that you turn this in to E-bay, and let them determine the solution. That is their job, if you feel you have been scammed(and you have). Send copies of the e-mails you got from the dork, and note the threat of "FBI". This in itself is a lame try to pass the buck. Let them kick the guy off. My 2c

By all means let Ebay know about this guy! Send them the emails. I do a lot of business on Ebay and I can assure you that they will indeed look into this matter. Do it not only for yourself but also those he could possibly scam in the future. Based on the emails, I wouldn't be suprised if they also refund some of your loss. At a minimum let them see the emails so that they can get a feel of what kind of merchant he is. I feel certain they will boot him off of the site.
By the way, your Mean Machine is looking great. I have enjoyed following your progress. I promise you that in twenty years, this rebuild will be one of your fondest memories. Keep up the good work.

I've bought quite a few things on Ebay, and so far(knock on wood!) I haven't been scammed. I did almost buy the SAME warranty folder for my '74 from this same d-wad, but I felt the price was a wee bit high, as he was asking(starting bid-$200) way more than I wanted to shell out. When judging(NCRS) cars for documentation, we will check to see if the orig. paperwork is there, and if it is a reprint, or orig., but I don't think the actual VIN #(on the paperwork) is verified, except on the older cars.
