Is this a Rally Wheel?
If it is, I'm guessing it is unpainted, cause I have Rally wheels on my Vette and they are silver. Did they come painted silver from the factory?
I'm confused!!

Hello Adam !
Nice project on the table,
as I look at the pic it is a rally wheel and probably that it is been sand blast and not paint and now it is all rust
and yes they come out from GM grey / silver painted .
you will have to sand blast them again to take the rust off add a good primer and paint them grey / silver as original.

Pop the trim ring off and look for a code around the air nozzle. It should be "AZ" plus some other date codes. Original rally wheels were painted black on the back side and then the fronts were painted Argent Silver. There is typically a small amount of silver paint that shows up on the back side of the wheel where it got through the spokes.

Whooaaa, not so fast. I'm not so sure they all came from the factory painted silver. Mine has the original rims, never stripped and they are factory black on both sides. I'm betting that cars ordered with the P02 wheel covers, which is what my build sheet shows, came without the silver paint. GM probably sprayed rims, that came in the door black, silver on one side if you ordered the rally's.
By the way, does anyone know if the '69 or '70 Camaro's used the same rim?
I've always wondered but never checked.

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray, L48 auto Buckskin/Buckskin Leather originally. Numbers matching.
I believe camaro's ran the 7" wide version of the ralley wheel. The same as 68 vettes.
I also wouldn't say "all" ralley's were painted silver, as I have seen quite a few in black.

Anyone with an original spare (like I have) take a look. It's not argent but a very marginal black. More for corrosion protection than cosmetics.
