Deals are out there if you look long enough. It took me over two years, but I just bought a 1970, L-46 4spd Coupe for $12,000. The car has a later model engine, but came with the original motor in a crate (that had just been rebuilt). The only things in the car that do not work are the wipers and the clock. Everything else is just as it came from the factory. I am very happy and now finally a proud owner of a C3 |wink|

My suggestion to you is to buy a copy of the "Chevrolet Corvette Restoration Guide", by Lindsey Porter (available at Ecklers etc.), read Chapter 2 and make a copy of the checklist at the end of the chapter. It's real easy to see a car that looks great and want it so bad that you forget to check critical areas for potential problems. Also, get as much maintenance history as possible. Talk to former mechanics if possible. If the guy just bought it recently and wants to sell it already, beware of potential big repairs being needed.
Lastly, If this car will be a daily driver, drive the car for at least an hour and on the highway. Don't just take it around the block.
Good luck.
Kevin
