Hi all Im in N.M and need some info before I go to Alaska on Tues. and back to Japan.
Heres the thing I want to pick up new ignition stuff coil, wires (spark plug), module, etc. Im looking at MSD because there is a proformance car place here but and that is the best selection they have. However I know very little about this stuff what would be the best combo for my ride? 75 stock ignition system at present. Also I need a EGR vavle and found two. they look the same but I guess only one would work as they have different part #'s. Any ideas on this? Its a Wells product.
Thanx
Glenn

I'm guessing the difference between the two EGR valves is whether you have an L48 or L82, but I would think the application guide should differentiate between the two. Get whatever numbers off your old EGR and see if it cross references to either of the new ones.
You really don't have to have anything beyond your stock ignition system if there's no problem showing, but it never hurts to upgrade. Since you're on the way to Japan, you may not want to make any modifications you can't easily obtain parts for while there. I would think speed shops for C3 Vettes are few and far between over there, and waiting for parts shipped from home may be longer than feasible to deal with.
That being said...MSD is certainly among the best ignition systems you can go with. Your '75 has HEI, and using the MSD 6A or 6AL ignition CD ignition may cause problems with your tach, but is pretty easily rectified.
In my '78 I have my original HEI distributor but replaced the original coil, internal module and advance weights with a Pertronix kit and am quite happy with the results. I've considered installing an MSD 6A CD ignition box, but the car runs so well as is I see no reason to do so.
Good luck and thanks for your service to all of us!
