The driver side door has the original tire sticker indicating tire size and pressure. It states the recommended psi for front tires is 20 and for rear is 26. I don't ever remember (for a passenger car) a tire pressure where the front and rear are different. Also, that psi seems really low. Tire size is GR70-15 |blinkyeyes|

Pressure rating may be low because it might not have come through with radials. Might have had bias ply tires and higher pressure, when heated up, gets higher and they didn't want to chance a blow out |headscratch|

I think my 75 lists the tire pressure as 15Front and 20 Rear....but I could well be losing my mind without my car =)

I think Chris is correct. The bias ply tires could only handle low pressure. If it is the original sticker, you have to make the assumption it is correct. The bigger question is this, what tires are on the car now? You should be able to e-mail the manufacturer and ask for recommended pressure.

I remember seeing something close to that on my '77's door. I didn't know why it was that low either. I guess I know now though. Is there a way to preserve stickers like that? I'd like to see it last because I have noticed it has gotten a little worse since I've had the car.

There is a company that sells replacement stickers for all areas. I just tried to find it in my catalogs at work, but couldnt. If I find it I will repost with the company name. My door sticker is in very good condition, but a lot of them are either gone or unreadable.

Yeah, I've seen some replacement stickers in the Ecklers catalog. But I'd rather just save and protect my originals rather than ordering new ones. If that's what it comes down to though, I may just have to do that. Mine is still good enough for now though.

Ok, I checked my catalogs. Not all of them have the tire label. I only found one that has the tire label they are Corvette Central ph. 800-345-4122 or www.corvettecentral.com. I know what you mean about keeping the original, as that is my plan as well.

My buddy's 73 owner's manual states 20 psi all the way around. I didn't believe it and then he read it to me. Btw, 73 was the first year for radials but perhaps the low tire pressure was a compromise of ride comfort versus wear. Dunno, seems quite low. As a side note, when we brought his car out of storage, his tires got 30 psi all the way around.

The guy who restored my car removed the door stickers before painting and stuck them to a heavy clear laminate. I put the vin sticker back on the door but will order a new tire sticker as it was ripped. It is nice having the original sticker, though. Joe
