Last summer I sold my C4 and began my search for a good daily driver C3. I've been lucky enough to find one and am far happier with the C3 than the C4. However, the C4 had an advantage in identifing what RPO's the car originally came from the factory with. The factory placed a listing of vehicle unique RPO's on a sticker in the rear storage boxes. That made it easy to evaluate just what equipment was on the car when it was built. The C3 I have only has the VIN number as far as I can tell. What I want is to be able to obtain a factual RPO listing of my specific car. Anybody been down this road?

Darrell, congrats on getting a C3! On the C# there is what is called a "build sheet", which I assume is what you are talking about on the C4. The build sheet has all of the options that "your" car was built with. They are also called "tank stickers" because they were most often attatched to the top left side of the gas tank. What year C3 did you get? If I knew that I might be able to tell you how to look at it without dropping the tank.

Darrell -- if your Shark was built at the Bowling Green facility, you can get a copy of your Corvette build order from the National Corvette Museum. If your Corvette was built at St. Louis, the records are not available. Copies of build orders have been found behind the dash, behind the kick panels, above the heater/defroster box, tucked in the springs beneath the seats, and under the carpet in the rear storage area. It was common to attach a copy of the build order to the fuel tank (hence, "tank sticker") but these were never meant to be permanently affixed. Over the years weather and road gook get to them. IF your tank sticker is still there, it could be illegible. It isn't worth dropping the fuel tank only to discover your tank sticker isn't there, is only partially there, or is not readable when you find it. Some of the best sources for Corvette documentation are prior owners. It wouldn't hurt to attmept to contact as many of these as you can locate and see what they have to say about the car. Sorry to be so late in responding, I've been out of town and just got the opportunity to check for responses. I have a 1978 non-pace car. For the most part the previous owner was not interested in restoration, so very little is original. That's one of the main reasons I'd like to figure out how it started out oin life. My corvette was made in. Louis. I received all the information concerning build date, dealer, all Rpo codes. The Guy's name is George Zapora in Canada. I don't know for sure if the excellent information is a result importing into Canada..he may be able to point you in the right direction...I hope this helps......
