Whatever you do, DON"T use a debit card.  I got stung and paypal only covered part of it.

I've sold a lotta stuff on eBay and I usally only charge alittle bit ($1-2) over the actual shipping cost.  I also package the stuff I sell very very well, I try to make use all the FREE priority boxes and envelopes that I can from the post office to cut down on shipping but that still does not cover the cost of bubble wrap and tape.  Packaging materials are very expensive.  If I do find out that I way over charged a person (which rarely happens since I work in the P.O.) I would normally give them a refund.

Some people on eBay are dishonest in their shipping charges but most of them you can tell from their feedback.  What I've found with the taillings and headlights (which I've bought a few) is that they sell in quanity and if they offer them at a lower cost up front they can sell more and make up for the loss in the shipping cost.  May not be honest to most but I still saved around $50 by not buying the same headlights from the dealership.

I don't know who's right you just have to way the costs/savings/shipping I guess, like I said mine was a $50 savings from buying them local.
