Welcome aboard. How much work was it to get that 6 speed in your car? Do you think it will bolt up to a big block? Lastly ( and I hate to ask but ) how much did it cost?

Oh cool Glenn, you asked! I was going to, but didn't want to intrude too much with a new person. lol I'd like to know how much time it took. What modifications did you have to do to get it in there? Anything? Also, how's she handle on the road with that motor?

All we have to hope for is that the answer is NOT " It was in the car when I bought it ". I will have to hang myself by the neck and hope for a quick death

The entire swap ran me somewhere around $6000. For several reasons, I decided to move the engine transmission assembly forward in the car about 2 inches. Due to the engine having an aluminum block and heads I could do this and still retain the same weight distribution front and rear.

One of the reasons was to gain more access to the back of the intake and block. There are a lot of hoses and pipes that run back there. Another was to have the heater hose outlets and waterneck line up a little better. And third, the transmisison fit so much better in the tunnel.

The shifter on the T56 would have come up right through the center of the console. From the begining, I wanted to keep the car stock looking so that was unacceptable. The top of the T56 shifter was cut off as well as the bottom of the muncie shifter. With a spacer between them, they were welded together. The shifter now comes out the stock hole and the mods are completely hidden by the shift boot.



The alternator bracket is made from aluminum and replaces the bracket from the donor car which wouldn't fit.



I have been working on this for about a year now minus the 6 months I spent at sea. I am working out all the bugs and hope to start showing it off really soon

Thanks for the response! This seems that it is not a project for the faint of heart. A lot of mechanical know-how is required. I was REALLY hoping you would say " the trans bolted right up with no mods required". Can you tell I'm a dreamer? Sounds like a really interesting project. Please post some more pics.
