Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I forgot to mention that I have the performer intake and there's plenty of clearance with the LT-1 hood. I don't know how much HP you will lose but it can't be too much because mine made 500HP and 510 ft. lbs of torque on the dyno at 4200RPM.
Yep I'll confirm that
I rode in that bad boy also.....I'm such a HP SLoT

....no wonder I have neck problems.....hello....

I agree with Larry. The manifold changs is a much cheaper route. I personally like the L88 hood....(I'm slightly biased
)

Good luck either way!!

Hey Mark,
Welcome!!! I've got a stroker in an '82, and ended up with a an Eldebrock Performer intake (lo-rise), and a K&N small diameter air filter with a mesh top. You'll loose some top-end with a lo-rise manifold, but you'll keep all of that great lo-end grunt that a stroker gives. And you won't have a new hood to prep and paint..unless you want to. Gotta admit, the LT-1 hoods are neat....
Mark your not alone,I too brought a car that looks good on the outside but had issues. However the great folks here have been a wealth of information and they are more than words can express in terms of helpfulness. I have learned two things owning a vette what can go wrong will, and patience. But the end result is well worth it.Good luck with yours,it may take time but what you learn along the way is priceless.

[QUOTE=Tb2k82CE]Mark I talked with Steve at vettsteve@aol.com he said he thinks he has what you would need. Send him a personal email list the parts or ask for his phone number.

I dont want to steal anyones thread but I have a question on these high HP strokers, What cam, heads and carb are you guys using. I am about to start building a stroker and would like to know. Also do you have plenty of vacuum for your lights and wipers? Are they bored and piston type.
Thanks
Rodney

Vette(s): '68 Corvette with Engine Factory 383 Stroker
Hi Rodney
I bought a 455 hp Stroker Engine from Engine Factory.
I t came with:
Scat stroker crankshaft Hypereutectic pistons 10:1 compression
Speed pro moly rings Custom ground hydraulic roller camshaft
Edelbrock double roller timing set Heavy duty trimetal engine bearings
Melling high pressure oil pump Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads with 64cc chambers
2.02" stainless intake valves 1.60" stainless exhaust valves
1.46 valve springs handle valve lifts to .575
High performance air gap intake manifold 800 cfm Edelbrock carburetor
Blue printed HEI distributor with 53,000 volt coil.
Probably a good idea to see what the pro's are putting together.
Good luck
Mark
