Well I finally got my old style Antique tag for the 72. It wasnt easy since the state doesnt use this style anymore and then requires a front, rear, both sides with windows up and all pics must have the top up as well. It was a pain in the A-- to put everything back together to take those pics but I'm glad I did it. Now since I wanted an old style plate I had to find someone willing to sell me their plate since the state no longer uses the old purple plates. So I found a guy and that would sell his and when we got to the DMV I found out the tag wasnt in his name! So then he had to find the guy he got the tag from and get a notarized statement allowing me to buy his tag. Well he couldnt remember the guys name but knew where he lived. It was a 30 mile trip and when he got there no one was home. So then he leaves a note on the guys door hoping he still lived there since it was 3 years earlier he got the plate from him. Luckily the guy calls him that night and he runs back up to get a statement releasing the tag to me. Transferred it the next day into my name and then had to wait 2 weeks for the state to approve the pics and the transfer. Well today it arrived! Its all mine now! The 72 gets the old new tag!

Congrats on bein legal, Rodney!!
Sure sounds like a major hassle, tho. In Texas, we can use old plates, but we have to take them to the DMV, and have a Trooper inspect them for reflectivity, and paint surface(to be sure you can read the numbers). Then they check to see if the plates are registered to another vehicle, and that's it. I found a set of brand new, never issued '74 plates on fleabay a few years back..still got the paper between them, still in brand new condition, so there's no worry about them being registered to any other vehicle.
It's kewl to see an old car with old plates...takes me back to the day....
