Not to highjack the thread but wanted to add a suggestion on
removing the gas tank. Try to run it down as far as possible,
then since you are going to throw the tank away, get a five gallon
bucket and place it under the tank, then just punch a small hole in it
with a screwdriver or awl. That will get it drained down for sure. Mine
had a pin hole leak in it and I found it with a screwdriver and got
drowned in gas.

What part of Japan are you in? I spent 2 tours, one in Atsugi as an SH-3 crewman and one in Yokosuka while I was in the Navy. I sure wish I had a Vette instead of that little rice-burner I had.
