I found out about this registry Friday night as I paged thru the Corvettes at Carlisle Program in our motel room mapping out my weekend stratagie
and came upon the C3VR ad. I stated to my wife it was about time. For the last 5 years we have attended I started to feel like the C3's were nothing with all these registries and new ones showing up every year. Now that it is here (wish I'd have known earlier but better late than never) I will make use of it.
I am planning to replace the headlight and wiper vacuum lines in my 69 ever since who knows when. I picked up a kit a few years ago at Carlisle and it just sits in the box. Did not get the storage cannister. Has anyone done this and are there any pointers or hints?
Thank you Adam for getting this off the ground|
. I am still brousing.

Welcome to C3VR Robert!
Sounds like Carlisle is someplace I'll have to get to in the not to distance fuutre. I had planned on going to Bowling Green this week but couldn't pull it off this year.
There should be someone who can help you with the lights. I haven't had any problems with mine (yet) so keeping fingers crossed!

Hi Bob. Welcome to the C3VR. I bought the whole headlight/wiper vacuum line package two years ago in Carlisle. It is still sitting in the bag. HOWEVER, I will be replacing all the lines this winter while the engine is out of the car. If you don't get to it before then, I will send you pics or details or whatever you need in the way of help. It seems pretty straight forward...replace the red stripped wire with the red stripped wire, replace the green stripped wire.....etc..etc.

Welcome! Carlisle was great!
My '87 convertible (yellow) was in the evolution display this year. That was FUN!!! And the nicest side effect is the car is cleaner than it has ever been since I bought it last summer!
My '70 was also up there just outside the NCRS tent. Welcome!! ~Juliet

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
It sort of sounds like Bob, and this is no offense to Juliet or anyone who owns a C4 or C5, is fed up (the same as I am) with owners of C4's and C5's thinking they're somehow better than everyone else. I have yet to pass a C4 or C5 on the road and get a 'Wave' back from them, yet EVERY C3 owner I meet on the road knows how to be cordial.
It comes down to pride of ownership, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging and sharing our passions with others of the same ilk. For some reason I just don't get that feeling from the later model owners.
Anyway, welcome to the club, Bob. As everyone has already mentioned, there is a wealth of knowledge here and even though someone may not have, or had, the same problem as you they're always willing to help out.
Welcome all you other Carlisle'rs out there too.
Whe you pass me on the street, don't forget to 'Wave',
Mark

Out on a limb here... but, I think it's because the vast majority of C4's and C5's are still owned by people who can afford them and not by people who love them. You can tell the difference when you pass them... a Corvette lover will
or
because your C3 is a Vette and a classic. The guy with more money than brains will look down his long skinny nose at your 20-35 year old car like its just another beat up old Chevy. A friend of mine met one of these types at a Vette club meeting. Conversation went like this... friend says Hi I'm_____. We have a 198_. The other person says "well at least it's a Corvette". This is not the typical attitude of most Vette club members but once in a while someone who is very impressed with themselves gets in and ruins it for the rest of us. Just my $.02

Welcome,
Total agreement with the last post and C4/5 owners.
As to the vacuum lines, you will need to set aside some time and lay out the new lines on the floor. Do a careful inventory. If you got a set that has the factory markings, red, green, yellow, and white striping, your installation should go relatively quick. GM tried to idiot proof their assembly lines, so the colors mean they belong to a system. Pay close attention to the routing, they routed each hose the same way each time, so the hoses are cut to a length that corresponds to the route.
Have fun.
