Hey Guys & Gals:

I thought I would throw this one out in hopes of getting a good consensus of where to have the floor ring tie downs located on a new trailer. I hope this an acceptable forum to ask this question. If not Mr. Moderator I understand if you move it. Here is the deal: I am ordering an 8' 6" wide enclosed Horton Hauler (this week) with the escape door and all the bells and at least one whistle. I am having (8) floor tie downs installed. The trailer is 22' long with a v-nose about (3')extra. I am having top cabinets installed so I have room for some items to carry. I am going to carry a generator in the front that can be used to A/C the trailer and provide lighting outside if needed. Oh, the trailer has a little beavertail to prevent any hitting of the frame while loading. So how would you space the tiedowns, to be the most efficient with securing a vette (C3 or maybe a C2 if I find one) for travel. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Donnie

I have a 19' Pace with V nose.I put 2 tie downs very far back to the rear and 2 way up front within the V area(they are about 4' apart).I also have 4 others I put within those to haul shorter wheelbase antique cars. The trailer and corvette are a load on my 04 Dodge 1500....not enough baseballs for the game. Make sure all tie downs have a sufficient pc. of plate steel under the trailer floor where bolts pass thru the tie downs.
Thanks for the reply. How far apart are the rings? I think the wheelbase is about 182 OR (5). I am trying to get a feeling for the location of the floor tie downs on my new trailer. Joel???Adam???Scott, Anybody???

Sorry, I can't help on dis un...my trailer is an 18' open, so I tie criss-cross to the sides, front and rear. One of these days, I'm gonna put some d-rings on the floor, and use wheel straps, but for now...

Here's a link to how I setup my d-rings & set my trailer up so I don't have to crawl under the car. It's very easy to pull ther car on & off for one person

My 18' open hauler came with the D-rings already in place. They're near each end of the load surface with about a 4 foot spread. I make sure I have whichever car I'm transporting centered over the axles (with a slight bias towards the tongue) and criss-cross the straps like Joel mentioned. I prefer to attach to the frame of the car rather than tires or suspension. That takes the bounce out of the car and makes the load feel more solid.

I wanted to thank everyone for your help and give a big shout-out to
" RANGER 3 " for coming over this morning and helping me put the finishing touches and measurements (IE: Scott says draw to scale (1/2 inch = 1 foot) for the new Vette trailer. It should be awesome, as we have specified every detail and it is centered around the vette with the remaining items such as lighting and windows addressed also.
