Does anyone know of an online car history search facility that supports using a 13 digit VIN number? All the ones I've come across thus far require a 17 digit VIN to do a history search. This is a bit challanging if your trying to trace the history of an older corvette, especially if the car is in Canada.

There was a guy that claims he now has the original Chevrolet info that will confirm what our cars came with for older Vettes.
Has anybody heard anything more about that?

The only place you get older than 81 cars vinn numbers,13,starting 81 they are 17, is your state DMV. They charge a fee here in NY and probably do in every state. Give them a call or check them out on the web. If you don't know it's website address just go to Google and type in your state's name with DMV after it.

I'm not sure if this is what you are after, but check the forum in General Discussion-"free stuff from GM"-currently on page 7.It sounds like you may be able to find out what the car came out with, and possibly the selling dealer. It also looks like the history on a Canadian 'Vette may set you back $45,but it is worth it.
You don't know how lucky you are being able to get that info from Canada. I have owned the vette on the cover of this magazine since 1973 and can not find out who owned it or how it wound up in Dallas Tx.
Joel Rosen at Motion has not given me much hope on finding info on my car. I hope for your sake you get good info on yours.

Ian,
If you are in NY do you have a way to see if this car was ever sold in NY for me? This is a Baldwin Motion 69 vette and it should show as registered to Joel Rosen himself but I need to know who he sold it to back in '69 or '70.
I have owned this car since '73 and can only trace it back to Dallas Tx. Someone must have known about this first "GT" Motion vette from back in that era. It was the same car that was shown at the NY auto show.
If anybody has pic or knowledge I will reward them for sharing it with me if it turns out to be factual.
There was just too many people that were around Motion in those days that must know something. This car was painted black with twin candy gold stripes down the center and around the tail when I got it. Does this sound familar to anyone?
