It is true that you are going to hear both sides of what is RIGHT to do. Some believe in keeping them original and others make modifications to them. But at the end of the build, either way, it is your car, your legacy.
The only thing that I can say is that we are the care takers of the cars, and it is up to us to make sure that they are here for the future generations to enjoy.

Hello all...as long as you are thinking this out, I would have to say your $10k budget will fall short of being enough to do the car right. Even if you do the majority of the grunt work yourself, you will need more than you have budgeted for. As an example, if the car needs paint and you farm the paint job out to a quality shop, you just spent the majority of your budget. Ask yourself what you want out of the car before you dive in. Are you more interested in originality? In performance? Reliability? Do you have an emotional attacment to this car that no other Vette will fill? How far are you willing to go? How much time can you stand the car being out of service during the restoration? Six months? Six years? All to often I have seen someone start a restoration only to run out of funds before the job is done. They are in Hemmings all the time. Think it through. You might be far better of, money wise, to look for a new car that someone else has put thier money into. Just my 2 cents worth :)
