Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I have a spot on my hood, right over the A/C compressor, that the paint has a lot of bubbles. My paint is all original, and most of it is in very good shape, considering 23 years old. The only thing I can think of, is that the A/C compressor leaked the freon, and oil, and the oil soaked through the fiberglass. This afternoon, I took it to a body shop that does a lot of corvette work, and the owner said that he has never seen one do this. He said that it would probably do the same thing again if it was painted, because of the oil in the Fiberglass. He suggested that I find a different, good hood, and replace mine.
He also told me that he toured the Corvette plant when it was in St Louis, and he is surprised that the paint is still as good as it is. He told me that they didn't have spray paint booths like now, but there were two workers, one on each side, and they painted the car right on the line. Then there was one guy that painted the top parts as it went past. he really didn't have anything good to say about the plant in St Louis, but that he had owned quite a few corvettes in his lifetime. He presently has a 2000, Yellow convertible. Really pretty. He also has a purple and yellow Pace car, I think it is a 98. Must be nice to have money... |thumb| |thumb| |thumb|

Has anyone else ever seen my problem???
