I've had my toy for about a month now and I've been cleaning and detailing since I got it. Right now it is up on jackstands with the wheels off for rim paintning. Have any of you painted the brake calipers and if so what prep work did you do and what type of paint did you use. I know they can't be seen very well with the wheels on, but I would just like to do it while it's off the ground. |headscratch| Thanks for any input.

Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.
The major Vette parts vendors, such as Ecklers and Mid America carry a kit just for this. It contains a cleaner and I believe the paint is epoxy based, to better withstand the various fluids that may come it's way... If you don't have a catalog, google for one of these two.

Eastwood's is another excellent source for this type of project.

i used a wire brush attachment on my drill to rough up the surface a little..

stuffed a rag in the middle

hung it on a bungee cord in my shed

sprayed it down with brake parts cleaner..

then applied two coats of high temp primer and two coats of high temp paint.

looks sharp.. (you can see them if the rallys are in the right spot)

I painted my front ones two years ago and they still look great. I used epoxy enamal, aka applance paint, I got it at the local store for $8.00 no primer just the paint. My calipers were new so you would have to clean them real good first. |thumb|

I saw that dupli-color kit a Meijer last week. It was about $18 I think. |thumb|
