Vette(s): Coupe 74 - 454 Drive it like you stole it!
Before I call them up; I was wondering if any of you had a prior similar experience with SummitRacing.

I bought these headers and what I received, is EXACTLY like the picture.  The one on the bottom, has a very noticeable (3"x1") scratch and many other small scratches.  The paint finish is very rough.  When I say scratch, I mean the paint is chipped; not scratched.

Some will say "You get what you pay for".  I agree!  But this should be in term of quality of the product, not the finish.

To be honest, it doesn't bother me at all, since they will be wrapped (which is why I bought the non ceramic coated or nicely finished one's).

What I would like to know, is other similar experience with Summit.  This is my first time buying from them, and I wonder if this is the reason they are 1/2 price of everybody else.

I am planning to call them to negotiate some kind of store credit, but I don't want to return them; too much hassle and shipping fees.

2 questions about these headers :
1) am I suppose to paint/finish/rust protect myself or just install 'em
2) there's a card that came with saying that wrapping them will void my lifetime warranty.  Is that a joke ?  What could be wrong with the wrapper ? How could they tell ?

I've always had a good experience with summit, no problems, I always double check the part #'s ad ask the rep any questions I might have, got my hooker's and a lot of other stuff from them, everything was OK, personally I don't like to wrap the headers, because they hold in the heat I've seen them get cherry red, thats why if you wrap them, kiss your warranty or something else good bye, thats why I went with ceramic.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

Summit Racing is 5 1/2 miles from my door to theirs.  I have never had any problems with them.  The only problems I do know of were taken care of with no problem.  And I know a lot of folks with Summit parts.  They really are a good outfit.

Keep this is mind.  Summit brand parts are the more economical version of many of the other name brand parts they offer.  Not that there is anything wrong with them, but Summit headers and not Hooker headers.  ANd they are more than sell you the Hookers, for a few more bucks. So there you go.  Again I don't know of any ongoing problems with Summit brand parts.  They do make it right.  Good people.

I've never had a problem with them either.

BTW, that store is awesome to visit. Ken gave us the "grand tour" of Summit Racing when we stopped by his place. I could feel my credit cards starting to melt in there.
