I need help.I'm doing my rims on my 82ce.I only want to do this one time.A guy at work told me about the wipe on stuff that will protect the wheel from getting dull again.Is there such a product?I don't really want to clear coat it because it will start chipping off,besides I don't think any clear coat will stick on such a smooth surface.What do you guy use on you polished alum wheels?

Is your old clear coat off of the wheels or not? 

My clear coat is chipping.   I'm not worried though.

To me, no matter what you try, everything gets dull.  Espeically in the sunlight.   Just keep cleaning them.   They get dirty more the fade.  

I use my Mequair's wheel products for mine.   I also use a terry cloth to clean the wheels.   This is better then the tough wheel brushes.   Takes off my clear coat as I found out.   

My clear coat is gone.I'v got the rims looking like chrome even the raised part on the fins.They look fantastic!!

Just put some wax over your wheels as I do to keep the dirt and grime from sticking.  And it's easier to wipe off if that junk is on there.

Mine still have the original clear coat has you can see the yellow/brownish color chipping away.   I also have an extra pair of rims just when the clear coat is gone I will replace them and redo the clear coat on the first set of rims.   The ones I bought don't have the clear coat so I have placed polish and wax on it three times.   Now it's collecting dust in the box.  That's cool.  I know they are ready to look good when needed.

i do it with the great means : put my wheels in my "lathe "? ( turning device for machining metal ) , a big brush and clothes with alu polish in the fixed head and let it turn for a few minutes....clean them and they shine for a while.....   You can  try it also riding approx. 20 mph with the brush trough the window  but be carefull for passing cars not to polish their entyre car....
