Topic: Polishing alum.wheels,HELP please read

Mike,
Is your old clear coat off of the wheels or not?
My clear coat is chipping. I'm not worried though.
To me, no matter what you try, everything gets dull. Espeically in the sunlight. Just keep cleaning them. They get dirty more the fade.
I use my Mequair's wheel products for mine. I also use a terry cloth to clean the wheels. This is better then the tough wheel brushes. Takes off my clear coat as I found out.
EASTWOOD SELLS A CLEAR COAT FOR ALUMINUM WHEELS. WWW.EASTWOOD.COM. THEY ALSO SELL A POLISHING KIT THAT I HAVE USED WITH GREAT SUCCESS ON SOME OLD ALUMINUM SLOTS.

That's great!
Just put some wax over your wheels as I do to keep the dirt and grime from sticking. And it's easier to wipe off if that junk is on there.
[/QUOTE] Mike, did you polish your wheels or do you still have a clear coat.I might be inclined to reapply the clear coat.I just don't see how it would stick to a smooth finish.I suppose there is a clear made for rims? Thanks everyone for the links.I think I have found everything I need and then some. You all are great
Mike,
Mine still have the original clear coat has you can see the yellow/brownish color chipping away. I also have an extra pair of rims just when the clear coat is gone I will replace them and redo the clear coat on the first set of rims. The ones I bought don't have the clear coat so I have placed polish and wax on it three times. Now it's collecting dust in the box. That's cool. I know they are ready to look good when needed.
Good Luck with your rims.
