With spring just around the corner, I was wondering when you are traveling around, how do you prevent someone from stealing or towing your car. Besides the car alarm, I had these ideas...
Remove the coil wire.
Use the "club".
Use a big ass chain and lock to "post" or etc at Motel.
Battery disconnect switch.
Sleep in your car.
Remove steering wheel.
Anybody else have more ideas..... THANKS, steve

Coil wire cut off switch - cheap and easy to install - just interrupts the coil wire continunity when installed, lojack, fuel line valve/switch, 357 magnum, pit bull, to mention a few.
Big Al

I have an alarm, but I am not sure it is working right now. I need to check it.

I have the battery disconnect and that is easy to do. If they are not familiar with the location of the battery, it might stump them. Of course, then I have to reset the clock.
I have slept in it over night. Once. Not real comfy. Slept like a new born baby. Woke up every two hours.

The problem with the club is they will cut your steering wheel.

If you remove the steering wheel, they will replace it with a wrench.
If you have a doberman, you could let him sleep in it overnight, but there are people that think that is cruel.

Just lock it, make sure the insurance is paid up and go to sleep.

What about the chain? I saw a picture of a corvette chained to a parking meter. The guy had his car stolen before. Anybody use a chain?
What keeps someone from towing your car off?

I have a rather unique way, along with Lojack. I dont know if anybody has access to gain some for us, but i would sure love to have one. A parking boot. Not foolproof, but sure helps to defer, along with the word "lojack" on the dash. I really think that 6880Mike is right, if they want it, they will find a way.

Edit: I found them! Man, i sure love Ebay! Heres the linc, if anybody else is intrested: http://stores.ebay.com/Ships-In-A-Day Now i know what i am doing with my $600

I use the club, more of a deterrent I guess, I also have a blinking red led at the corner of the dash pad. I have a switch to turn it on & off, good visual deterrent. I'm going to install the battery cut off.

Hey Dave, they have cut offs with a fused wire that remains connected so you don't loose memory in clock and computer. If someone tries to start it the high current will blow the fuse. You should have one of these because of the computer in the '82.
