Where can I find information about a 69 protect o plate. I found mine today and I thought there would be more info on it.
From what I can tell, it's the vin, the original owner's name and address, and then along the bottom 5-50, 037, and 3-9. I am guessing the 3-9 means March 69 production date?
Thanks for any help!

My '69 Protect-O-Plate it attached to a cardboard folder titled: "1969 Chevrolet New Vehicle Waranty and Owner Protection Plan". The metal plate have the vehicle VIN and several other code numbers that can be deciphered if you have an Assembly Instruction Manual. The codes identify the carbuerator type, engine type, rear axel type, and various options on the car. The owner's name and address was added using a plastic tape lettering gun.
I know my vehicle is a late 1969 - probably October, based on the VIN and some other references I have read. There appears to be the following: 10-21-69 on to P-O-P and the numbers you listed do not appear in that format. If you look at the last 5 digits of the VIN, you have the build number and you can look that up in some references and get a close idea of the build date.

I mirrored the plate image, so it can be seen as it would be when used. These plates were used by the dealers to verify ownership of the vehicle when doing warranty work. They would "swipe" the plate, just like they used to do with credit cards.
I think the numbers in question will have to do with the dealer code/zone, and the date the vehicle was sold, not built. The build date will be on the trim plate.
Earlier pop had a different type of embossing on them. The one in the owner's manual I have(for a '66) has the old "Label Maker" strip tape on it for the owner info.

Okay-- thanks for the info!!
So this isn't the POP?
I assumed it was because on the front of the warranty pamphlet it said the POP would be attached, and this is. If it isn't can someone post a picture of what one would look like. Probably the same as the ones I saw for a Chevelle??
This may be getting off topic, but I have another question. The build sheet on top of the tank...I read (I think here) that you can reach up on top and grab it while the tank is still in place? I would imagine that it is still there, my dad owned it since 72 or 73. I would have no problem dropping the tank if that would be safer. Just wouldn't happen until it warms up.
I did search about posting pics, couldn't find anything. On other boards I just paste the address of where the pic is hosted. Couldn't do that here, had to manually type in the address. Thanks again!!!!!

What you posted IS the POP. These were provided by the DEALERS, if I'm not mistaken, not the factory. There have been several different types used.
The safest way to get to the "tank sticker" is to remove the tank.
Posting pics in a post can be done if you use the
button, and then the
button at the top of the post box. There, you can copy/paste the address of the image you want to post.
Please be aware of the size of the photo/image, as some of us are still on...dial-up!
Larger pics take forever for the page to load, and some of us, like meself, lose interest if it takes 3 minutes to load the page!(just kiddin!)
If you want to share a larger size pic, it's best to use a link, or a thumbnail with a link.
