No...not unless it was someone "faked" one for judging purposes. Doesn't sound like the case with yours.
I'd say the one you have is the correct, original pop for that car. I'll post a pic of the one I have for '66 tomorrow.

Adam & rpm-inc:
The image you "mirrored" from rpm's post sure looks like what he described, and it is attached to the warranty card, but it looks totally different than my POP. Mine has a lot more letters & numbers impressed into it which I traced back to the transmission code, rear axel code, etc. The owner's name was added with a Label Maker tape gun. Did you check an AIM - page J-25? Somewhere else I have seen a detailed description of the POP with row and column identifiers designating the description of each code that appears on the POP - just can't recall where???

Here's the info on the earlier, '66 POP I have.
You will notice that the top numbers signify the engine, trans, and paint codes, as well as the diff. ratio, along with the VIN #. I included the page that they actually ink "stamped" with the plate, to show how it would have looked then.
Notice also, that the page says "Chevrolet Protect-O-Plate".
The "Label maker" tape is also the correct type, with the GM logo made onto it. I tried to enhance the stuff a few ways, so it would be a little more legible, and I also blocked out the original owner's name, and address.
I hope this helps a little.

71-72, I think. 70 may have been the last year.
