Hi, most of that information can be found in the Little Black Book. You can pick one up at any larger bookstore like Barnes & Noble. Also, there's a VIN decoder here on this site, which is very cool, you could try that. You could also page Juliet and ask her, she's VERY knowledgable on chrome bumper Vettes. Check the 70 Vette Registry section here, she's always there. I'm sure there are a few people here who own the same year, they'll be checking in I'm sure. Hope that this helps you out some, and if you decide to buy it, come back and become a member and if you like the site as much as most of us do, then become a Gold Member to get even more benefits. ( |eek| that new goldmember movie just came out and some of those scenes just popped into my head when I wrote that! |toungecool| ) I've found all kinds of info here and I enjoy all the cool people.

Hey, welcome to c3vr.

You can also push the TOOLS button and click on Vin Decoder. I don't know if that will give you everything that you are looking for, but it won't hurt trying!

Vette(s): 1978 INDY PACE CAR #3016 of #6502 built. Has original Pace car decals still in GM boxes the way it was delivered to GM dealers. per NCRS "UPDATE" Decals applied as of 3/8/02 (ALL ORIGINAL)
Todd,

All the information you need is here on the C3VR.

Like Imran said go to the tools menu and then drop down to the drop menu, it will have C3 statistics. Click on that, it will have all the years of the C3 vettes. Click on your 71 and you will have all the information and options that you were refering to in front of you.

Also, welcome to the C3VR |thumb|

Todd,

I found the Dobbins book (Fact book of the 1968-1972 Stingray) to be really helpful. I was also able to get a copy of the 1971 Corvette Specifications guide/service manual which I was told was originally distributed to all Chevy dealers when the model year was released. If you have any '71-specific questions feel free to ask & I'll see what I can look up. Nice choice of years! |rollysmile| ~ Joe

Todd,
Welcome to C3VR! |wavey|

Unless the owner of the Vette you're looking to buy has found the "build sheet" for the car (or better yet has all the original paperwork), you're pretty much out of luck finding out exactly what options were on the car when it rolled out of the factory. GM didn't keep (or has "misplaced") build records for cars built at the St. Louis plant. Resources mentioned above, the C3 Statisitcs on the Tools page, and several other publications have lists of the options available for most every year of car.

Happy hunting...!!!

The Corvette Fact Book (68-72) is very good as well as the black book. I also use the NCRS Spec Book and Judging Manual as a good reference. The AIM is a must also. As you can see from my before picture, every book helps.

Good luck and welcome to C3VR!

The only thing the VIN shows on a '71 is couple or convertible, nothing about options. Starting in '72, the fifth digit of the VIN showed which engine the car came with.

Thanks to everyone for all of the information. I have decided to purchase this vette,
hopefully they will be able to get it shipped out by the end of the week. If anyone would
like to take a look at it, it is on the web page at County Corvette Sales.

Sorry I'm a little late, but congrats with the new vette. Welcome to the forum and don't be afraid to ask ANYTHING here. Chances are that someone can answer your question and help you. |thumb|
