(Ok, I've been a little forgetful about QODs! Here's one for you...)

If you had unlimited money and could buy any Corvette generation, (or restore one you already own), which would it be and why?

I have done a bit of restoration, and would like a "Done" car now. If a C2 was possible it would be a 65 Driver Quality coupe. Really like the accents. The maroon color is real nice. If a 2013 were possible, a GS in inferno orange would be my desire. BUT.... I don't see either of them in my future.

Based on Adam's premise, besides my C3, I would have to say a 1967 C2 427 Stingray coupe.  Always loved that body style.  Back then, I was in high school and a guy down the street from our house had one. Looked amazing, sounded amazing and made me a Corvette enthusiast from that point on.  I actually like most generations but as they got further and further away from the C3 style, I became less interested.  And today, we have the C8.  Technologically, it's a marvel and it can go up against the other super-cars from Europe at a fraction of the price.  But, even with that said, to me, it's no longer recognizable as a Corvette.  Sure, my C3 couldn't hold a candle to it in speed, handling or tech but between the two, I'll take mine anytime.

The optimum phrase is "unlimited money"...

C1 - a '61 or '62 with a 4 speed tranny

C2 - a split window coupe with a 4 speed tranny

C3 - a '70 LT-1 convertible (modified with a 5 or 6 speed tranny)

C4 - a '90 ZR-1 and a '96 Collectors Edition with a 6 speed tranny

C5 - a Z06

C6 - an '09 GT1 Championship Edition Z06 in BLACK

The jury is still out on the C7s, styling-wise for me anyway.

And I understand why they didn't put a manual tranny in the C8s but that's a deal breaker for me.

I'd keep the 78.

But, while bracing myself for the onslaught😄 I'm going to say a C6 - late last year we looked very seriously at a fabulous Centennial Edition Grand Sport.  Corvettes over here in France are expensive, so this was "all the money", but worth it.  At the very last minute we decided that we really wouldn't use it as much as we should do and it would take up too much room in the garage!   And, we still secretly wanted a convertible, and it was a coupe.  A very hard decision though!  Maybe if an equally superb C6 "vert" GS came along......

I have to agree with manchestershark- a “done” car sounds very appealing right now. My 77 is an endless list of todo’s that I never have time to get to. Would really like something to enjoy.

If money were no object, a C8 would be nice. Don’t even care about color. Just give me a warranty lol.

It would be either a '70 LT1 like the first Vette I had in the late '70's or restore the '71 I have now... I just think they are the best looking of all, with all the chrome etc... Just my favorite model....
