First, Welcome to C3VR!!
Take a look at your trim tag, just forward of the door on the body, and look at your VIN number, on the driver side windshield frame. Then go into the C3VR Registry VIN decoder, located at the tops of the pages, under the "Research" button. This should get you started in the right direction.

Vette(s): 1979, Targa Blue (72 Color), Pace Car rear spoiler, L88 hood, Dark blue factory interior, 525HP 406, HD 700R4, 370 gears,Steeroids, composite rear spring, TT IIs wrapped in T/A Radials.
A build sheet would tell you everything you need to know about the car. Most popular and most difficult sport ot retrieve one from is the top of the gas tank.
Here's a useful link to learn about the 79 model year also.
Good Luck
Paul (I have a 79 also and can help you out a lot with what I have learned over the past 5 years working on mine)
