Hi All,
Here are my questions, situations actually.
First, I can get the spare tire bolt loose and pushed to the left, disconnected from the lower spare tire tray. I can get the left (driver) side of the lower pan past the body panels. But, the right side seems to have too much of the body panel lip to lower to the ground. I'm hesitating the pull REAL hard.
Second, I can open the Jack compartment and the battery compartment but the middle compartment doesn't want to lift, seems to be caught at the lock still. The key turns and the key cylinder comes up about a half inch.
Any comments, suggestions, or even laughter graciously accepted.
Thanks,
Jim

You can replace all the hardware on the cubbyholes from different venders - (sounds like you might need to). You could try WD-40 or some rust penatrator and let it sit over night and see if that works. Spray the inside of the key hole. Hope that help's some.

Hey Jim..sounds like you got a lot of pullin goin on! My center lock acts just like you describe yours..I have found if I push down on the lid first and then push in the button it opens..I still have to push pretty hard but it pops eventually..I think shooting some good penetrant in there may do some good..I sprayed mine a little with the lid open on the backside..into where the catch is itself since the key part turned..and I have no idea about the spare! I haven't had mine out yet..let me know how that goes!

If Rich's trick doesn't work, you might try some gently pressure with a screwdriver to create a little more of a gap between the edge of the door and the frame.

Hi Jim, a picture could be worth a thousand words on this one. I can't see any body panels even coming close on my cars, just mufflers.

Yep, a pic of the spare tire carrier would be very helpful. On the later C3s once the center bolt at the rear is moved out of the slot on the "tub" gravity brings it to the ground with a thud.

There should be no interference from anything in letting the tire tub down...it should simply lower to the ground with the weight, even without a tire in there. A pic of what you're looking at will definitely help.

Ok, I have some pictures and additional information. Its hung up on the
bumper. I took some pictures of the forward part of the tub too, and
it looks like it is pushed backwards about an inch. Or course, an inch
would give me all the clearance I need. Also, the front bolts are
loose. i.e. I can push that end of the tub up and down.
