 1. Is there a sequential/documented numbering system for removeable hardtops?

 2. What is the process, if any, for adjusting the linkage/cable that connects the reverse linkage to the steering column for key removeal in a 4 speed?  I have to wiggle the shifter back and forth to engage it/syncronize it, to get key out.  THANKS    Mark

No numbering system for the tops that I know of, tho there may be numbers/letters scrawled on them from the factory with grease pencils with the "job number" of the top. As far as one top having a VIN, or other ID to match a particular car, I'm not aware of anything like that.

The reverse lock-out cable doesn't really have any sort of adjustment, other than "tweaking" the brackets that hold the cable. You can bend the bracket(s) a little to see if it helps.

I have a hardtop with no headliner.  It has "B-16" in crayon inside, under the headliner.  There is no other identification.

Well I did some homework! It seems I have a 72' HARD TOP for my 72' vert. The bottom rail between the points under the window has these numbers= 48466   7641210.  Do not know what they represent.  The window has these numbers= as2, which is code for door, and rear window clarity by AMERICAN STANDARD.  TY= is for August of 1972.  M72=model/made in 72.  If anyone knows the definition of the other numbers, THANKS ahead of time.  I recently brought this top home from CARLISLE, THANKS to the C3 friends at the tent, we attached it and fastened it, and we motored on home confidently.   Mark        Now if I can rectify the LOCK OUT for transmission/key switch, I will be ready for the carburator dilema.
