Vette(s): 1981 Corvette, blue w/black interior (not original), rally wheels. Project car.
I found it laying under my 81 yesterday as I was walking through my garage.  I've recently removed the entire interior from the car; seats, carpet, console, dash, heater core...everything.  All parts and screws were bagged and labeled, but I don't recall ever seeing this piece before...let alone recalling that I removed it.

Sorry, I don't know how I posted twice....and don't see a delete option...

Shadows are deceiving. Need better pics. Possibly part of seat/seat belt support. Fell down when interior was removed.

I've got no real idea either...need a better view. Is it plastic, or metal? How big is it? Looks like it could possibly be something with the shoulder harness cover in the rear, but it could also be part of the console....hard to tell from that particular pic. Unhappy

Not sure but it looks like the heat shield off the starter

It's metal, not plastic.  As you can see, it's not very big and had a tab that looks like it's made to clip onto something.

Another question...Does it have oil or grease on it? Or is that remnants of old paint?

This has got me puzzled and I know just about every inch of my '81. Confused

How about the guard on the transmission that is on the reverse switch. Keeps stones and other flying material from damaging the switch. Give it a peek.

Yeesh....I don't have a clue. Best I could guess would be it's something to hold a wire/harness in place somewhere. That slotted part is for a screw to hold it in place. It's a mystery, fer sher!
I wonder if something like that would show up in the AIM?

Vette(s): 1980 loaded red on red. 68,000 original miles. Second owner. Well documented with all original paperwork. NCRS Founders Award 9/27/14. NCRS Top Flight 10/12/14.
What is right above where you found it? Was it under  the RF or LF of engine. My guess is a heat shield for spark plug wires and exhaust manifold or starter heat shield.

Perhaps seeing the larger sized images will help. It looks a LOT different like this!
