Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I have tinted windows but not used this product.  Frankly I would not even attempt to tint the back window of an 82 corvette.

Two reasons only:
1. any dust, lint or dirt will show up as a bubble 10 times the size of the dirt, lint or dust that caused it.

The only way I know to get a window really clean is with a razor blade.

2. I'm to old to be laying on my back under the window with my arms in the air and liquid stuff (sop, water and whatever) dripping in my face.

That said I say a real nice tint job done on an 82CE.  It was done professionally.

Now for something you did not ask.  Tint is ok in the daytime.  But at dusk, any low light or at night you need to understand that you cannot see anything that is behind you that does not have lights on it.

I would put up a curtain behind my seat and drive around for a while to see if I liked it.

I know this is not what you asked but I have had cars with tint on them and would never do it again.  Almost backed into things some of them living.

Hi Chip, I've had one of these for years. Not as dark as I had hoped for, just barely noticeable, but it probably helps a little with the overall heat. They mount on the inside. Not real hard to install or remove but they do let out a little rattle occasionally. Would I buy another ?  Yes, if I had the money. I always thought about tinting it darker, I'm sure it's possible.

I have a dark tint,20%, on my rear window, but I had it done. I love the way it looks on a black car. My side windows are also tinted, but not as dark, 35%. It does help with the heat when in the sun.

Thanks guys, Im exploring my options here to cut some heat down in the cabin.  Ive already dont the heater shut offs and heat barrier in the interior, just looking to see what else I can do to help my AC keep up.

Hi Chip,

I had an outfit downtown put the darkest tint allowable on the back window.  I can see out ok
mostly but, you can not see in the back from outside.  It made a big, big, big difference in the
solar gain I was getting. I had a little lighter shade on the two door windows and did nothing
to the windshield.  There are times (outside temps below 96*) that I have to turn down the AC.
It is the best addition I have made to the car.  My conditions here are extreme.
A black car with black tint looks pretty good to me.

All the best from the desert. Smile

Keith

Keith,  That black tint does look good on your car and Ive seen DaveM's as well.  Unfortunately North Carolina law still requires my 82 to be safety inspected every year till its 35th birthday and the darkest legal tint in NC is not nearly as dark as yours.  I have DARK tint on my black F-250 (two black vehicles...yep, Im a glutton for punishment) so I have to cheat a bit and hold my breath every time I get it inspected but love the way the dark tint looks.

Hey Chip,

I've heard that CA is writing tickets to AZ drivers for "too dark" windows.  I'm legal in AZ.
It sure does the trick in cutting down the heat of the sun. The shop's boss did the
work.  If any problems develop he said he would fix it as long as I had the car.

Your truck looks good that way. Black goes with everything.

I had my rear window done years ago by a company that had a bad reputation. The results were phenomenal. It was done in 1 piece, no flaws. It is what they call "Limo" tint. Its like 5%. It really cuts down on the heat. I had the sides done to the old NYS legal limit of 35% since the car was made before 1992.

We (in NYS) can have the rear window tinted as dark as you want, but the sides must be legal limit. I guess to many cops were getting shot since they couldn't see inside the car they were approaching. Stupid criminals mess things up for the rest of us.
