Just received my Shipping Data Report from NCRS. I have the 2 past owner histories through '79. But orginally, my 71 was sent to:
Lind Chevrolet in Grand Marais, MN
My official production build date was 2.13.1971
Wow! My car has perhaps always been in the state of MN! I have lived in the Twin Cities since I was 1, so that was a surprise.
I am looking for more info on Lind Chevrolet, since gone, but I just thought that was really neat.

That's really cool..haven't received mine yet but am anxiously waiting..nice to have as much documentation as possible..great that us old chromie cars can actually get some info now..

I've not been able to get any California DMV documentation about my 71l. How do you get the NCRS Shipping Data Report?

Ordering the Shipping Data Report does NOT mean you'll actually get one. The data received from GM is not complete, some years are not available, and some cars may not be in the data, or the data(micro fiche) may not be legible. Unfortunately, you will still have to pay for the service, since someone has to manually look up your VIN in the data, copy it, and send it to you, if it's there. There is limited data available for some years, too, meaning it's just not there at all.
I haven't ordered one for my '74, but I might in the future...ya never know.
You WILL need to be a NCRS member to use the service, tho.

Update on my shipping data..well I got an email today saying they couldn't find my car..something about the microfiche being damaged..I was beginning to wonder if I would ever hear from them because its been a while..oh well..I guess they tried their best..and one other thing..they refunded my money because they couldn't find the info..I would rather have it though..I guess I can't have it all..I did find the original keys the other day so I guess I can't be upset about something that didn't come with the car!

IF your '81 is a Bowling Green Built car, they have all the info. You can contact the NCM and get that.
