Hello all,

A while back I asked for some recommendations for trusted mechanics for our C3 Corvettes in the Fort Worth, Texas area. When I finally tried to follow through and contact a couple they appeared to have gone out of business. Maybe Chinese Virus related?

Anyone have any good recommendations?  Here's what I need completed;

1.  Rear wheels need aligned

2.  I bought a complete A/C kit from Vintage Air and need the kit installed 

3.  Need my Odometer fixed. Speedometer works perfectly

Talk to Chris at Advantage Auto in N. Richland Hills.

I got my C3 aligned at Sunday's Auto which is right behind Corvette World.  They have done a lot of them.

Hello John - I've been looking for a good C3 shop too.  I need a range of things similar to yours.   I see that somebody recommended a shop for alignment.   Please reply if you find any good Vette specialty shops in the D/FW area.  

I need my antenna motor replaced, windshield wiper motor, probably alignment  and brakes.  

I will check this discussion thread to see if anybody else recommends a good shop.

If you are on the Dallas side of the metroplex, I'd recommend DMS Corvette in Garland.  Talk to Dave.  I had them do some work on my LT-1 and was very pleased with their work.

Once again, Sunday's Alignment is right behind Corvette World Dallas on whatever street that is.

Well, I have to say that I'm not impressed, so far, with Chris at Advantage Auto in North Richland Hills, Texas.  I've called them several times, and Chris is NEVER there when I call.  He's always out running an errand or eating lunch, or whatever. So, I spoke to a woman (Front Desk?) that seemed very nice three times and she promised she would have him call me back.  He only attempted to call me back once, and God forbid, I missed his call because It was after 6:00 pm when he called.  I've called three times after I missed his call and nothing.  I have VERY little patience for the lack of communication, especially, when it's a potential customer.  What type of mentality do these shops have these days?  I don't need ANYBODY that bad!

When I started typing this message, I actually thought I'd give Chris one more chance but by the time I got to this point in the message I am fuming so much that I've decided I'm done with him and his lack of professionalism.

If you're in the DFW area, I highly recommend you stay away from Advantage Auto in North Richland Hills.

You might try talking to Jim Welch at Mid Cities Corvette...or maybe it's Mid Cities Classics.  I had them do some work on my Vette many years ago.

*edit...It's now Mid Cities Classics but they are very familiar with vintage Corvettes.

I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your help a ton!  I did rant a little about Advantage Auto and their lack of professionalism and communication but I didn't want you to think that I didn't appreciate you.  You were a great help and my rant has nothing to do with you my friend.

Does anyone recommend a mechanic in the Orlando area?

Your loss.  They do a lot of restoration business and Chris can be busy.  He has done many Corvettes and owns a C1 and a C2 big block.  They also do regular late model work too.

Frankly, I believe it's HIS loss. I'm a member of Cowtown Corvette Club as well and we do share our experiences and recommendations with each other. I'll be sure that they all know to steer clear of his place. I can't even fathom being too busy to communicate with a current,  or potential,  customer. That lack of professionalism speaks volumes to me. 

No matter how good you think he is, he was certainly no good for me.  I don't expect a company to beg me for work, nor will I beg a company for their services.  I DO expect professionalism and respect from every shop that wants my business though.

Thank you for reaching  back out to me.  I see you have sparked a lively discussion.  I did notice the Mid-Cities Classics looks promising. I grew up in Hurst so it won't seem like driving a foreign land ( like Dallas).  I will check them out, probably after Christmas.  I will keep watching the discussion thread to see what else pops up.

Thank you. F4Gary is a very nice guy and I wanted to be careful not to offend him. I just have very little patience for millennials or those that act like them. LOL. I was just contacted by my brother-in-law and he recommended I talk with Troy at Top Shelf Auto. Troy called me right back and was a pleasure talking to. I'm bringing my car to him this week to have him install my Vintage Air system in my 1969 Vette. He said He has installed several systems in various classic cars. I'll let you know how it goes.
