It seems like there is two different groups of corvette owners on this registry. The restoration group would be the guys that wanted to keep there cars as original as they could (NCRS and Bloomington Gold)standards. The modification group would be the ones that would want more horsepower and custom looks from their vettes.Reply back and tell your views on this subject.

*Those of us that want to keep our Vettes looking and performing as original, but don't have the money to get it to NCRS or Bloomington quality!!

My belief is that it is Your Corvette, do whatever you want with it!!

I would have to agree with the Three Classifications as well. Though i just bought my 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition Vette, I already want to pour some more ponies into the stock L82. However, I am falling short in the financial department so i kind of fit in two of the three categories myself...

I'll throw myself into Mark's 3rd classification as well. I bought mine to
(1) have some fun driving an American classic,
(2) skin a few knuckles while learning about wrenching on a car, and
(3) meet some new friends.
So far I think I've accomplished my first three objectives and think that "The Toy" is currently "a 10 at 10 paces", so still have a few things to do as time and budget will allow. It will never be a "hot rod" or a "show queen", but hope to get it to "a 10 at 5 paces" level someday and keep it as original as possible.

I feel the problem you run into with a restoration is that the judges seem to almost
expect the cars to be better than original. I am putting all my original pieces in
boxes so when I seel the car, if a "purest" buys it, they will still be able to
have as an original car as it was when I bought it. I am not saying it was an
NCRS restoration but it did have a frame off accomplished with many dated parts.
I am now getting ready to take the original 427 out and replace it with a modified
454. As was said above....it is your car...make it your way.

My Corvettes are original. Numbers match. That's my cup of tea.

Sorta gota agree with Doug, while I got my 80 Vette as a birthday present from my brother & sister-in law, last June, I've spent some time and a fair amount $ trying to restore it. When I say restore, I mean make things work, that diden't. I have no idea of trying to make it original, I want to enjoy it and drive it. While the body and paint (far from original) is in very good condition, the interior & suspension, need a lot of work. When they are fixed (a few years) I will get started on the engine. In a former life, I use to build dirt track cars, and the lack of power is getting to me, so we gota fix that.

I'm in the "original or as close to" group. I love restored cars, but a nice modification is fine by me. To each his/her own.
