Vette(s): 1978 INDY PACE CAR #3016 of #6502 built. Has original Pace car decals still in GM boxes the way it was delivered to GM dealers. per NCRS "UPDATE" Decals applied as of 3/8/02 (ALL ORIGINAL)
As you can tell I kind of lean towards being in the original condition group. Although, I do realize like Mark says it does take alot of benjamins to keep corvettes in that condition and the NCRS judges do crawl all over your car at shows expecting everything to be perfect. Lets keep this thread going and get more input from other corvette owners.

I like doing both. I want my car to look original, but I like modifying it to make it faster and more powerful.

Hi All,
This is my 1st post although I've been registered for some time now. I'm one
for mods. I got my '77 L48 as a replacement for my T-Bucket. My wife loves
the Vette (hated the T). It is not an original color but it looks real sharp.
It's painted a Forest Green like the late C4s. My big mod will be to install
the Edeldrock C26 dual quad manifold (left over from the hotrod). It already
has true duals into Flowmasters. Its a fun car that won't break the bank.

Hey gang...NEAT discussion and great feedback!
I'm still on the fence on this issue, but seem to agree that since I'm not a Gazillionaire, I might as well have fun and enjoy what I have. It's great to see the creativity of folks whom have the moxy to just GO WITH IT. Rose, I like what your doing to your car and the mods are looking mean! There are so many different ways one can go, it's hard to pin down any one particular LQQK. As long as the look isn't too gaudy, I'm for it. I still love those so-called perfect NCRS Vettes, but if I can't get out and drive and enjoy it..what's the point? There is a place and budget for them all...and as has been stated...it's YOUR Vette. I plan on doing some mods on mine as $$$ allow...but nothing too radical...cause I like the "clean" look pretty much the way it is.

Thanks....have really given this ''project'' ALOT of thought!
...''mean'' is a nice word....I have heard the word ''EVIL'' quite a bit as well!
Still have a ways to go yet...but ''she'' is really starting to come-together!!
Now that the flares and wing are on...next is the rear bumper and new tail-lights!!
Still have some detailing fiberglass work to do around the headlights and also finish-ing sanding...THAT is what seems to take FORVER!!!!!! ...on with the glass....wait till it dries...sand most of it off....
.....put on more glass...etc etc etc repeat till smooth!!
I should have some more pics of the flares and wing in a week or so.

Well said Rich!!!! I too like the clean look but plan on
doing some mods to give a little boost.

Rich and Johnny, I agree that it is not a bad idea to get out and drive and enjoy your vette on the weekends or on sunny days. But, if you have a classic original collectible car (which I consider all C3 Vettes to be) you have to treat them as investments. In which case you try to do as much as you can to keep the car from depreciating. But, as been said it is your own vette, do as you wish with it.

My '80 needs a a fair amount of time, money and LOVE! I plan on restoring the interior with the original Oyster color it had for 21 years, however the current color of the body is not the original but I like it, so it will get a new coat or two. I have chosen not to upgrade the suspension only changed out the parts that are worn. The power plant will not get modified but I may pull it and replace it with a ZZ4 and a 700R4 trany and keep the L48 and the 3 speed auto on the side. To go NCRS original or Modified is all up to the owner and his/her own passion and pocket book.

Vette(s): 1973 Coupe - was L82, auto, air, standard interior. Now has 1987 350 TBI, 700r4, 4:56, Fiero seats, new interior, PPG base/clear (BMW Hellrot Red), Alloy wheels, chambered exhaust, headers, small cam, interval wipers, cruise, front spoiler.
Mine is kind of a "Restofication". I wanted it to look & sound like I remember them from the seventies, but I didn't want to ignore all the technology improvements of the last 30 years. It looks the way I want it and the wife likes the way it runs & drives. You just gotta love old cars, and nothing before or since has the lines of a shark.
