I've been reading some great viewpoints here.

I guess I have been in each of the categories at one time or another. I bought a nice original 68 vette once and worked on restoring it. I've had drivers too. I now have a modified. Several years ago I would never have bought the car I have now. I thought it was gaudy then. Now I like it because it is outrageous, different and has some history. I have always liked the GM Mako Shark II show car and when I found out that Motion Performance made a copy of it I knew it was for me. My dilemma was, should I make it look like the GM Mako or, since Motion is also desirable, should I restore it to Motion specs. For now I am sticking with the Motion specs.

I think mods are getting more desirable, especially vintage ones. Case in point, A few years ago the Concourse d' Elegance highlighted original Hot Rods. That show was always for 100% restored top of the line cars such as Bugatti, Rolls Royce, etc. It is probably the premiere high class auto show in the world and they now consider Hot Rods (Modified model A’s and others) as automobile history and very desirable.

The one thing I don’t like to see is someone getting a vintage all original low mileage vette (or any other car) and chopping it to make a radical mod. But, to each his own.
