First I would like to say hi from the desert lands of Afghanistan. My son and I have done the unthinkable and purchased a less then perfect 1975 vette which will need a full and complete restoration. We have started with are first puchase of a near pefect frame and have had it sand blasted and powdercoated.
I hope all adventures will be this easy with the car.

The car is currently an AT and my Son and I would like to convert to a MT. Is there a repop kit that would make this convertion possible and less painfull then buying bits and pieces.

Welcome to C3VR!!
Converting from a automatic to a standard is a big job! The biggest hassle is changing out the pedal support under the dash. Also, if the car is an auto now, it will not have the bracket for the clutch cross-shaft on the frame. This piece is welded on at the factory on standards only. You would have to have that, and have it welded on in the correct position.
The rest of the parts are pretty straight-forward, as far as installation. The fact that the automatic cars have removable trans crossmembers is a big plus, too!
Don't know of any place that offers a conversion "kit", tho. Might be best to get it all off of a donor car, from a 'Vette salvage yard....

Yea I was afraid of that. The frame we had redone is an MT frame at least we have that part of the pie. Had to replace the org. frame due to rot out. Any good web sites that might help with hunting down these needed items and how about a place to find liteture to help with the convertion instructions? Oh man what have we gotten in to, oh well it's only money!!!
PS: How the heck do you post a picture. I want to post the picture of the frame, since thats what we are starting with.

Go to <www.keislerauto.com>. They have complete 5- and 6-speed conversions kits for C3's...manual and automatic kits complete.
The kits aren't inexpensive, but it's far easier than trying to buy a donor car and adapt used and even damaged parts to make your conversion.
A number of guys here have Keilser 5- and 6-speeds installed and from what I've read, all love them. Maybe some of them will speak up and give you their thoughts on it.

Cool thanks for the site. My Son thanks you I thank you, but the wallet will have to reserve it's comments until we see what the damages will be.
WOW! You're taking on a huge job. My BIIIIG concern would be, because you have to change the chassis/frame due to rot, what kind of condition is the "birdcage" in? That's the steel frame around the driver/passenger compartment inside all that fibreglass. It's a really big job to change, even bits of it like corner brackets and pillar lowers. C3s living in areas where corrosion is a problem are notorious for rot in these areas. May be better just to keep this car as a parts bin and get a known good carcass.
Very good point, the body is coming off soon and then we will get a much better look at the condition of the birdcage and the rest. We don't have much hope that we will find a clean steel in these areas.
Thanks for the info, we'll keep pluging. Maybe we will get lucky and we'll find a donor car that is in much better shape.
