I'd like to ask your opinions of which produst works best to prep rusted metal that has been wire brushed or sanded for paint. This would apply to evrything under the fiber glass. Eastwood, POR-15 and there are many others
Also, what is the best way to bring aluminum valve cover and rocker panel molding back to life. There are alot of products - which ones work well in you opinion?

Hey there TOML8275:
The products you mentioned in your questions work well, but there is another lesser expensive product that different guys around here told me about that works well also. I used it when I took down my Shelby prior to putting her back together. That product is 3M Rust Converter. Believe it or not, you can buy it at WalMart, auto part and paint supply stores, but I bought mine from WalMart for under $4.00 per 8 oz bottle and have been pleased.
There are plenty of products you can use on aluminum polish. You should check out the post/thread in Car Care that is running now by Jayare on aluminum polish. Some one left an interesting one yesterday afternoon about heavy metal polish system.
Good luck, Gurtz
The POR Metal Ready is great stuff. It is a phosphate based solution.
As for aluminum polish. I have tried them all over the years but the best that I have ever used is called Heavy Metal. You can only get it from truck stops or on-line from the manufacturer. This stuff can not be equaled. It is suspended in a liquid and comes in three grades. Red for really course work, green for mildy oxidized parts and blue for the fine polishing. There is a small amount of wax in the polish that extends the time between polishing. I have been using it on the Torq Thrust II's on the wife's 69 Camaro for the past 9 years and they still look new. I only have to polish them twice a year. Go to www.heavymetalpolish.com
