Was on the way to a club meeting...cruisin behind Hubby down the Interstate.. when all hell broke loose!!
with NO warning..heard this awful RAP RAP RAP!!!!
think the engine is toast.
will know more next week..whether can be rebuilt or have to get another engine.
Was a nearly new engine too..was a rebuild that was barely broken in when I put it in the car 3 months ago.

Sorry to hear about your car, I had the same thing happen just two weeks ago. The only difference I was sitting still and it just died:(,thought I had a vapor lock but it turned out to be the cam gear, I was upset that a gm cam gear went bad after only 31 years and a mere 100,000+. I do think you need to find a new wrecker service, the picture you have on here shows the driver using a J hook on your rear suspension, that will cause damage to your your r/susp.They should use tire straps on all corvettes. I'm a part owner in a towing company, if my driver did that he would be working someplace else. Good luck!!

THAT is the only place in town ( that I trust with the Vettes) that has a flatbed....and I wasn't too worried...was only going a few miles back to town.

I know how painful it is seeing your baby up on the back of one of those trucks! I hope they get her fixed and back to you in good time and condition! She looks great!

Debbie,
Sorry to hear about Rosie. She'll be raising hell again before you know it.
I have a question about your ZR-1 rear bumper. I'm in the middle of installing one on my vette right now. Did you get the bumper from Eckler's? And what kind of tail lights did you use? Was it as much of a PITA to fit, with using filler, as mine is? (at least 1/4 inch of filler along the whole top line so far.) Thanks.

Serious bummer. My guess is a rod bearing. If so, it means a crank shaft, and at least one connection rod. The heads have to come off to do this, so the piston can come out. Lots of work, but not quite a full rebuild. Let us know. Wish I could help.
Good luck on the diganosis. Hope you get some refund or something for the blown motor. I am just wrapping up my newly painted black and newly installed motor 1979 vette. I hope it doesnt blow. I built the motor myself so I can't get a refund. Good luck and hopefully you will be back on the road soon!
